Sauk Rapids-Rice Public School’s Diggin’ Diversity group has been very active this fall with several efforts to serve and strengthen ties with our community. The group recently collected new and gently used shoes of all sizes to contribute to The Central Minnesota Mental Health Center’s shoe drive. The CMMH drive, in partnership with funds2org, supports suicide prevention efforts and, at the same time, provides merchandise for micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries who set up small businesses to sell the shoes. Thanks to everyone who donated at Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School!
Diggin’ Diversity also picked greens and vegetables at the St. Cloud community garden on Saturday, October 26—an annual tradition for the group. They brought the food back to the middle school, washed it, pre-cooked it, bagged it and froze it for their upcoming Kwanzaa event that will be held on December 14, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Whitney Senior Center in St. Cloud. This event features free food and activities and is open to the public. We hope you can join the Diggin’ Diversity group for this fun Kwanzaa celebration!
