The goal of Health Services is to create and sustain a school health system that promotes and supports student achievement, health and well-being. A Licensed School Nurse provides an array of services to students, including:
• vision screening: grades 1, 3, 5 & 7
• hearing screening: grades K, 2, 4 & 6
• scoliosis screening, 5 & 6 girls
• screenings available on request.
• medication management
• health care plans
• first-aid and illness management
Health Secretaries support the Nurses in the health office of each building. The school health team works with families, students and staff to promote a healthy and safe environment.
Immunizations Needed for School
To go to school in Minnesota, students must prove that they are up-to-date with their immunizations or that they are exempt from the requirements for medical reasons or the beliefs of the parent/guardian.
If you have questions, don’t know where to go for shots or do not have health insurance, call the District 47 Licensed School Nurses. Forms and information are available at http://www.health.state.mn.us or the following MDH links:

Physical examinations are highly recommended before your child enters kindergarten and 7th grade. If your child plans to be involved in a school sport, physical examinations are required and must be on file in the school health office.
