A Dance of Dedication: Representing Minnesota

Sauk Rapids-Rice High School's very own, 17-year-old Bella Stewart

recently beamed in the Miss Dance Team Minnesota competition, driven by her deep love for dance cultivated over 14 years. Bella's dedication paid off as she secured the 7th position in the eleventh-grade division out of 63 talented dancers from across the state, earning her a spot to represent Minnesota at the prestigious Miss Dance/Drill Team USA competition in Orange County, California, scheduled for March 15–17, 2024. Beyond Miss Dance Team Minnesota, Bella earned All-State titles in Jazz during her freshman and sophomore years and clinched All-Conference titles in Jazz and Kick, showcasing her unique talents recognized by her peers. Despite her amazing accomplishments, Bella faces challenges, including a medical condition in her hip causing severe pain. However, her resilience shines through as she strategically manages her time, juggling high school academic commitments, evening college classes in History, Economics, Chemistry, and English through the PSEO program, high school dance team practices, and Miss Dance Minnesota preparations.

Bella positively impacts not only her teammates and classmates but also the community. She works with younger dancers, realizing the influence she holds as a role model. She emphasizes the significance of providing positive encouragement for the younger generation and aims to inspire them through hard work and dedication.

As Bella reflects on her journey, from deciding to enter the competition in July 2023, she acknowledges the intensity of her commitment. Using the stage not just to showcase her skills but as a space to navigate challenges, inspire others, and continue her personal and artistic growth. She plans to continue the PSEO program with Math, Composition, History, and Government, participate in high school dance, prepare for the competition, and attend college to dance and become a pediatrician. As Bella continues to inspire those around her, we eagerly anticipate the next chapter in her remarkable story.
