School Board of Education

The Sauk Rapids-Rice School Board consists of seven members, elected by the public, who serve four-year terms. Elections are held in conjunction with the general election in November of even-numbered years.

School Board members are responsible for establishing the district budget and for generating broad district policies. The Board officially enters into contract agreements on behalf of the organization, though the delegation of responsibilities for the operation of the district flows through the office of the Superintendent of Schools and his administrative team.

The Sauk Rapids-Rice School Board generally meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:00pm in the School Board Meeting Room on the second floor of the high school. Board meetings are conducted in accordance with Minnesota's Open Meeting law and are chaired by a Board member elected by the Board for such purpose. A time has been designated at each meeting to allow for public input. That time is held as close to 7:30pm as the agenda so permits.

Notices of Board proceedings including minutes of Board meetings are published in the district's official newspaper, the Sauk Rapids Herald. Individuals with specific questions regarding the School Board are encouraged to contact individual Board members and/or to call the Superintendent's office.
