Middle School ZAP summary
The ZAP program was introduced to students at the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year. Zeros Aren’t Permitted was started as a way to help children who have a difficult time turning assignments in on time to stay on top of their late work and ultimately achieve greater academic success at SRRMS. Completion of assignments is important for students to learn and understand new material. Work completion is also a life-long skill, necessary to be successful as adults.
Students who are ZAPped for a late assignment receive additional assistance during lunch and after school if assignment completion continues to be a struggle for them. There are five levels in the ZAP program. Students at Level 1, 2 and 3 attend lunch and after-school ZAP. At Level 4, a meeting with the student, parents, administration, counselors, and teachers is scheduled to develop an intervention plan. At Level 5, a meeting is scheduled with parents, administration, counselors, and teachers and the conversation this time is about alternative educational opportunities, testing to determine any medical concerns, possible special education referral, and possible assistance from outside agencies.
Data is used to determine the effectiveness of programs at SRRMS. Below you will find the ZAP summary and a summary of the results from the parent and teacher surveys, both for the 2010-2011 school year.
