Voicing Our Vision Drives Board Goals

From the fall of 2007 through the spring of 2009, members of the Sauk Rapids-Rice community participated in small and large group work targeted at helping set the direction for the school district. Participants in what came to be known as Voicing Our Vision (VOV) were asked to conduct focus group discussions throughout the community in an effort to gather input from area residents about the system. During the summer and fall of 2009, the School Board utilized the information and the opinions generated by VOV committee members to set goals for the school district. These goals are intended to drive change as the school district continues to improve its program for our students.

Goal I

The district will create a culture of academic achievement
by engaging students and parents.

Goal II

The district will prepare all students for post secondary success
by continuously assessing student progress
and by evaluating and updating curriculum and instruction.

Goal III

The district will foster an informed and supportive public
through increased communication and outreach.

In an effort to provide interested persons insights into the entire Voicing Our Vision initiative, this link has been created. Individuals who wish to examine the minutes from group sessions can access those documents by clicking VOV Minutes. Several information pieces were developed for publication in the Sauk Rapids Herald and the school district newsletter. These can be found by clicking VOV Publications. A number of discussion tools were used both in the community and in group work at VOV meetings. These can be examined at VOV Tools.
