System Accountability

Each of the state’s K-12 Public Schools participates in the Minnesota’s Systems Accountability Program, a program which encourages the district’s citizens to provide advice and feedback to the school system regarding the effectiveness of its educational programs.

To accomplish the Systems Accountability goals, each district must have a committee, composed of citizens and school personnel, who assure that the district has processes in place to meet the requirements of the law.  In this district, the role is filled by the Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC).

Curriculum Review:

The Curriculum Advisory Committee provides a review of each curriculum area’s improvement plan and curriculum document before it is submitted to the board of education for their review and adoption.

For each content area, the CAC members reviewed…

  • the philosophy statement and mission for the program
  • the improvement plans for the K-12 program
  • the revised learner outcome lists created by the staff members
  • (when available) proposed new instructional materials
  • any added course offerings at the high school
Testing Review:

This committee regularly examines the results of the district testing, including the Basic
Standards Test results and the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment program results. They discuss options and processes to benefit the district.

Graduation Standards:

The legislature recently adopted academic standards in Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science, which are currently being implemented. This committee serves as the advisory body involved with implementing these changes.

This committee is open to the parents and other members from the public–we would welcome your contribution. Members represent a school building or serve as “at large” members. They serve one-year terms, which are renewable. If you would like to volunteer for membership call the District Office at 253-4703.
