The activity of Solo and Ensemble Contest for the 8AA region is one which helps to develop musicianship and musical independence. The activity is one which is supported by the Minnesota State High School League and the schools of the 8AA region. The contest is always the 3rd Wednesday in February and it travels from host school to host school in the 8AA region. The 2008 contest is hosted in Alexandria at Alexandria High School. The event is open to the public and all visitors at Alexandria High School need to report in for a visitors pass.
