Concert Band (Grades 10-12)

The Concert Band is a curricular band that strives to offer a high quality performance setting for students who play traditional band instruments. This band includes all students who play a band instrument in grades 10-12. The objective of this course is to challenge students through traditional and non-traditional musical works ranging from grade 3 to grade 5 in difficulty. Basic elements of music history and theory are taught as a reinforcement of the skills associated with understanding the performance of music. The content of this course continues to change based on the needs of the students, the performance settings, and the influences of the changes in society which can be made relevant through the study of correlating musical works.

The band traditionally performs once each trimester with each concert aligned to teach different styles and demands of music. All students are encouraged to enroll in the band for all three trimesters; however, if schedule choices must only allow for two trimesters, the 2nd and 3rd trimesters should be prioritized.
