Middle School Activities Policies
Academic Eligibility Requirements
Extra curricular activities are viewed as an opportunity for you to participate in a non-academic experience that is considered beneficial to your overall well-being. However, the following academic standard is a minimum requirement for your participation:
- In order for you to participate in SRRMS extra curricular athletics/activities, you must not have received a failing grade (F) or an unsatisfactory grade (U) the previous trimester in any class. (Spring trimester grades will be used to compute fall eligibility.)
- Any student failing a class will remain ineligible until midterm of the following trimester. Students ineligible must have passing grades at midterm in every class to become eligible for an activity.
- Students receiving an unsatisfactory (U) grade in a class will not be able to participate in extracurricular competitions for 2 events. Students may practice during this suspension. For single event activities, such as drama, students will not be able to practice for a period of one (1) week.
- Students referred for EXCEL will not be able to participate in activities during after school EXCEL sessions until the work has been completed and EXCEL sheets have been signed off by the referring teacher(s). Students may participate in practice on non-EXCEL days, but will be required to be signed off of the EXCEL list to participate in competitions.
- Whenever you miss class, whether for athletics, band, choir or speech, it is your responsibility to find out what assignments have been missed. These assignments must be finished and handed in at the same time work from the rest of the class is due.
Attendance Eligibility Requirements
- Students are required to be in attendance by 12:00 pm (noon) on the day of a game/meet/concert in order to participate. Exceptions must be cleared by the principal.
